Chibi Japan Expo Report

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 10, 2009, 7:14 AM
Well, finally I'm here to write the report about Chibi Japan Expo.
I'm so in delay, cos I was sick with the cold, so I couldnt stay at the computer for long time.

Anyway here the report:

After our bad experience in the last convention, where you hadnt a chair, a good place, a organization that didnt say nothing about your tickets and hours and in particular where a large part of the visitors were rude and with few culture in anime and manga, come back at a french convention where all was organized in good way and the culture of anime there is since 1978 as in Italy, made seemed this convention really nice at our eyes.

Yep, as all the conventions, also in this there were some little mistakes but really insignificant.

This year the convention were divided on 2 floors, as last year, but the different was the position of the booths.
In this edition the "official booth" were at zero floor, as last years, but the Fanzine stand were at first floor, maybe if they were at the first as last edition, the owner could have more visitors, but anyway the number of the ppl was anyway good.

Here a pic from Fanzine Booths.

Three pics from the Official Booths.

About the activities they were always at first floors as last years, I think that this year the activities were larger than the last edition.

About the anime projections, they were at second floor, and luckily all new series, I appreciated to see also here Tears to Tiara...I know I laugh, when I think that they could show also the game...but yep, maybe it isnt so good for this convention, cos there were also various children.^^;;;

About other events, as concerts and cosplay, they were in the half floor between zero floor and first floor, the place was quite large and the stage was good, without problems of layer on it.
So if you have big costumes or uncomfortable shoes, you could walk without problems.

While the conference were at first floor, near the Fanzine booths, the place was large and could take many persons inside it.

Last important things were the restaurants, in my opinion with good price and a large choice of food, you could eat real ramen(not only that instantaneous that sell in general in the little and poor conventions), noodle, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, fis, chicken with curry, miso soup, rice, hot dog, various sandwich, french fries, various japanese cakes and other stuffs.

Yep, you had really a large choice of food, and all for a good price, and it was also of good quality.

Now I want to spend two words about the cosplay.
I didnt take part at regular cosplay that it was at friday and sunday, last year it was just saturday and sunday, but this years the organization decided to make that of saturday friday, cos on saturday there was a special cosplay.
In fact in that date there was the cosplay organized for the HANGRY&ANGRY. I took part at this event.

This was a particular event dedicated only at gothic/punk costumes, you could take part to it if your costume could be near at this costume style. About the vote, it was directly from the HANGRY&ANGRY(they are a duo of japanese visual rock and they sponsor a line of gothic things, there is also a shop in Harajuku). This isnt a contest where the price was for the best costume in manufacture or for best performance, but the vote only on the taste of the 2 guests.
So maybe some persons wasnt happy of the result, but I think that these 2 girls voted with their taste, looking the things that they loved in a costume style and not about if it was sewed good or similar to the characters.
So I think that the price were good, in particular for the first price, that guy really merited to win.

Here my Stalker costume that I dressed for the Hangry&Angry cosplay.

Well changing subject, about our sells, well they went quite good, few RO players, but the few bought really much!
Anyway we noticed that this years there were more young persons than last years, but a strange things, few common anime fans, maybe this mania of this common series will finish soon? I hope so!
Also inside the cosplay I saw new series, and this make me happy, not only Naruto or Bleach...but also other stuffs.

Here our Booth.

Anyway the number of the cosplayers I think that is a bit decreased, many gothic lolita, but less cosplayers...maybe was also for the bad location of the convention...it was in a bit dangerous place of Paris, even if it was in a nice structure the place outside of it, isnt so good...in particular to go around in cosplay. So maybe the persons changed their dress in convention, and finished the contest they came back with the normal dresses to exit and go to take the metro.

Last words that I want spend are on the organization, as I said in the beginning, it was really good, we had also the car place to bring our things in conventions, we had also badges, and there was also 1 as gift, practically we had 3 badge free. About the booth, it was large, different from that of the last year, but always good.
All persons of the staff, knew their work, and this making feel well the exhibitors that had all the info that they needed.

So in the end, my valuation about this convention is good, yep, it was little respect the Summer Japan Expo, but nice.
And as I sad, after my last convention, so horrible and fool of trollz, this convention made me happy.

So we decided that our future trend of conventions will be only for this kind of events, with a large number of persons not less of 10000, in good places, and atm only in France, Japan and Italy(this country is field of our italian member), then, if we will have the possibility we would like to go in some German Convention.

Well, now the next convention, will be in Nagoya next month, I will go also at Comiket, but this time not as exhibitor but as visitors, cos I'm arrived in delay for the subscription, and then I admit that is a bit tiring work at that convention, so I will think to it maybe for the next summer.

Ok, now I stop here.

I like your style, you have particular use of the color that I appreciate.

I like that pic, and I dont think that you have a silly expression, believe me various scholars\professors could have that expression in the Robot Factory. ^^;;;

I noticed that you live quite near Amstelveen, maybe we will be able to meet sometime for a better photoshot.^^

Thanks a lot for your comment.^^

I have no idea where Almstelveen is :D
(not really topographical orientated..)
but if its near Amersfoort and I happen to have a spare moment, feel free to fill me in on the details :3

also, I believe you call my "use of color" cell-shading.
it flattens the image, but also gives it depth~
its like, the most basic thing to do for shades xD
